The PACT Network supports youth organisations, youth
workers and all who work with young people, especially within the
voluntary sector. It aims to strengthen their ability and
confidence, thereby increasing the effectiveness of their work.
This support is delivered in several ways:
through the provision of free of charge training, by facilitating
networking between organisations, both statutory and voluntary, by direct
support of individual organisations and by signposting further sources of
support.
The main beneficiaries are young people who are better served by their organisations and
may receive effective signposting to
other statutory or voluntary services. A significant number of those young
people are known to be from pockets of deprivation, experiencing social
exclusion and with some participating in anti-social behaviour and criminal
damage. A direct result is that more of those young people engage in
positive activities.
The success and effectiveness of PACT is largely due
to the fact that its Steering Group includes representatives from a diverse
range of organisations.
Anybody working with young people aged 11-19 in
Castle Point and Rochford may attend the training although some events accept
only limited numbers. Training is provided without charge in order to maximise its accessibility. The training offered is of
high quality and is typically delivered by professional youth workers. Sometimes
it is obtained free of charge from partner organisations and in other cases it
is commissioned from consultants.
Training topics have included:
Drugs Awareness, Child Protection, Mental Health,
Funding, Self-Awareness,
Conflict Resolution, Working with Parents, Bullying, Sexual Health,
Team Building, First Aid, Eating Disorders, Equality & Diversity, Domestic Abuse,
CAF Awareness
